Hi Dr. Leonardi...

Can you post sometime on exactly what an "exhausted T-cell" is?

This term has really got my knickers in a bunch.

Is the 'exhausted T-cell' the product of a chronic infection?

Can a reinfection provoke a T-cell response, but this reinfection generates a population of 'exhausted T-cells' resulting in a less than ideal immune response?

Is the 'exhausted T-cell' completely ineffective or partially effective?

Can the generation of 'exhausted T-cells' lead to pathology?

If you have a reference such as "Exhausted T-Cells for Dummies", that would be helpful.

Glad to see you back writing. Congratulations on getting your MBBS. Terrifying the amount of minimisation going on about long COVID. The clinical manifestations are truly protean, and there many, many people post COVID with symptoms and dysfunctional organs due to infection, chromic inflammation and immune dysregulation. Thank you for this.

Hi Dr. Leonardi...

So, I'm a 'Lurker' on the bird site. I came across a thread the other day that was rather concerning, but difficult to quantitate. A group of individuals were discussing how they had Covid back in 2020 and successfully recovered (including normal bloodwork), but NOW in 2023, their lymphocyte panels were abnormal. (These folks did NOT believe they had been re-exposed to SARS-CoV-2) These are anecdotal accounts and at least one person had a pre-existing immune issue, but I don't think all of them did. Seeing this reminded me of your 'Superantigen' comments and it makes me wonder. Acquired Immune Deficiency? Have you heard any such accounts?

It might be difficult to know how widespread something like this is because Doctors don't like running immune subpanels without a really good reason to do so (fear of the insurance companies).

Anyway, thought I would mention this so it would be on your radar.
